Conditions We Treat · Riverton, NJ

Physical therapy for pain, balance, recovery, and more.

No two patients arrive with exactly the same story. TORQ provides individualized, one-on-one physical therapy for orthopedic, neurological, vestibular, post-surgical, and persistent-pain conditions.

We look beyond the diagnosis alone to understand how strength, mobility, balance, movement habits, confidence, medical history, and daily demands may be contributing to what you are experiencing.

Listen carefully. Evaluate thoroughly. Treat intentionally.

Most patients can begin physical therapy without a physician referral. Individual insurance requirements may vary.

Coordinated Care

One patient. One clinician. One focused session.

Every physical therapy session at TORQ is provided one-on-one by a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Your treatment is based on your evaluation, goals, current abilities, and response to care.

When another clinician's perspective may be useful, the team communicates and collaborates to help keep your care coordinated. You receive the individual attention of one clinician with the perspective and support of a broader team.

Real care. Real attention. Real progress.

Pain & Orthopedic Conditions

Pain can be local. The factors contributing to it may not be.

Pain may be influenced by overlapping factors, including tissue irritation, joint mobility, strength, sensitivity, movement habits, activity demands, and previous experiences with pain. Finding the true cause often means looking beyond the area that hurts. Your evaluation helps determine which factors appear most relevant to your presentation and how physical therapy may help.

Chronic and Persistent Pain

Persistent pain can involve more than an injured muscle or joint. The way the nervous system processes symptoms, the body's confidence with movement, previous experiences, strength, mobility, sleep, stress, and activity tolerance may all play a role.

Treatment may address sensitivity, protective movement habits, reduced activity tolerance, weakness, and fear of movement. The goal is not simply to chase symptoms. The goal is to help you understand them, move with greater confidence, and gradually return to meaningful activity.

Pain affects movement. Movement affects confidence. Confidence affects life.

Low Back Pain and Sciatica

Low back pain and symptoms traveling into the hip or leg may involve several structures and movement factors. An evaluation can help identify likely contributors involving mobility, strength, nerve sensitivity, posture, loading, and activity tolerance.

Treatment may include hands-on care, mobility work, progressive strengthening, education, dry needling when appropriate, and gradual exposure to the activities that have become difficult.

Finding the root cause often requires looking beyond the location of pain.

Neck Pain and Cervical Conditions

Neck pain may occur on its own or alongside headaches, jaw tension, shoulder discomfort, stiffness, or symptoms extending into the arm.

Treatment is based on the factors found during the evaluation and may include mobility, strengthening, hands-on treatment, activity modification, and education about work, sleep, posture, and daily movement habits.

Reduce irritation. Restore motion. Rebuild confidence.

Hip, Knee, and Arthritis-Related Pain

Hip and knee symptoms may be influenced by the joint itself as well as strength, mobility, gait, balance, footwear, and the way the body handles everyday activity.

TORQ works with people experiencing osteoarthritis, meniscus-related symptoms, joint stiffness, weakness, gait changes, and other orthopedic conditions affecting the hip or knee. Treatment may focus on reducing symptoms, improving mobility, strengthening the surrounding muscles, and helping the body manage walking, stairs, standing, and exercise more comfortably.

The joint matters. The surrounding system matters. The way you move matters.

Shoulder and Rotator Cuff Conditions

Shoulder pain may involve the rotator cuff, joint mobility, strength, shoulder-blade mechanics, the neck, or the demands placed on the arm during work, exercise, sleep, and daily activity.

TORQ works with shoulder stiffness, rotator cuff-related pain, frozen shoulder, strains, weakness, and post-surgical conditions. Treatment is progressed according to the patient's symptoms, function, healing stage, and goals.

Calm the symptoms. Restore the motion. Rebuild the strength.

Foot and Ankle Conditions

Foot and ankle symptoms can affect walking, balance, running, and the way force travels through the lower extremity. Treatment may address mobility, strength, balance, gait, activity tolerance, and footwear when relevant.

TORQ commonly works with ankle sprains, plantar heel pain, Achilles tendon conditions, instability, foot pain, and running-related symptoms. Shoe-wear patterns may provide useful clues about how a person loads the foot during walking or running — observations considered alongside the physical therapy evaluation.

Balance, Dizziness & Neurological Conditions

Care designed around balance, coordination, and neurological function.

Balance and neurological conditions often require different assessments, pacing, cueing, and progression than a typical orthopedic injury. TORQ's team has experience helping people improve safety, mobility, coordination, confidence, and participation in everyday life.

Balance is more than standing still. It is how you react, adapt, recover, and keep moving.

Balance Disorders and Fall Prevention

Unsteadiness, fear of falling, difficulty walking, and a history of falls deserve focused attention.

Treatment may include strength, sensory awareness, coordination, walking practice, obstacle negotiation, reaction training, and exercises that safely challenge balance. When appropriate, treatment may also include floor-transfer practice, strategies for getting up after a fall, and education intended to reduce fall risk.

Safer steps. Stronger reactions. Greater confidence.

Vestibular Disorders and Vertigo

Dizziness and imbalance may arise from vestibular, neurological, visual, cardiovascular, medication-related, or other medical factors. A physical therapy evaluation can help identify findings that may respond to vestibular rehabilitation and determine when additional medical assessment may be appropriate.

TORQ has experience addressing BPPV, vestibular hypofunction, post-concussion dizziness, gaze instability, motion sensitivity, and related balance concerns. Treatment may include canal-repositioning techniques, gaze-stabilization activities, balance training, and gradual exposure to symptom-provoking movements when clinically appropriate.

Understand the dizziness. Retrain the system. Rebuild confidence.

Parkinson's Disease and Other Neurological Conditions

Neurological rehabilitation may focus on walking, posture, transfers, balance, coordination, strength, endurance, and the ability to complete daily activities safely.

TORQ has experience working with people living with Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions. Treatment is adapted to the person's diagnosis, current abilities, medical status, and goals.

Move bigger. Move stronger. Move with purpose.

Post-Stroke Rehabilitation

After a stroke, physical therapy may help address weakness, balance changes, walking limitations, coordination, transfers, and reduced confidence with daily movement.

Programs are designed around the movements and activities that matter most to the individual. The pace and goals of treatment depend on the person's current presentation, medical status, and stage of recovery.

Practice with purpose. Progress with intention. Build from where you are.

Post-Concussion Symptoms

Some people experience dizziness, balance problems, neck pain, headaches, visual-motion sensitivity, or reduced exercise tolerance after a concussion.

When these symptoms are appropriate for physical therapy, treatment may address cervical mobility, balance, vestibular function, visual-motor tolerance, and a gradual return to activity. Care may be coordinated with the patient's medical providers when needed.

Calm the symptoms. Restore tolerance. Return gradually.

Headaches and Cervical Contributors

Some headaches may be influenced by neck mobility, muscle tension, posture, jaw symptoms, activity habits, or sensitivity to movement.

Physical therapy may help when musculoskeletal or vestibular factors contribute to the presentation. Treatment is based on the findings of the physical therapy evaluation and coordinated with medical care when appropriate.

Look beyond the headache. Assess the neck. Address the contributing factors.

Recovery & Specialized Rehabilitation

Individualized support for recovery, strength, and return to activity.

Recovery rarely follows an identical timeline from one person to the next. TORQ adapts rehabilitation around the procedure, condition, medical history, current function, personal goals, and response to treatment.

The plan changes as you change. The work progresses as you progress.

Post-Orthopedic Surgery Rehabilitation

TORQ works with patients recovering from joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery, and other orthopedic procedures.

Treatment follows the surgeon's precautions and protocol while also responding to the patient's pain, swelling, mobility, strength, function, and recovery goals. Communication with the surgical team is used when clarification or coordination is needed.

Protect the repair. Restore the motion. Rebuild the function.

Weakness, Deconditioning, and Reduced Mobility

Illness, hospitalization, inactivity, pain, and chronic medical conditions can lead to reduced strength, endurance, balance, and confidence with everyday movement.

Physical therapy may focus on walking, transfers, stair negotiation, functional strength, endurance, and gradually returning to home and community activities.

Start where you are. Build what you need. Return to what matters.

Running and Sports Injuries

Sports and running injuries may develop after one event or build gradually as training load, mechanics, strength, mobility, recovery, and equipment interact.

TORQ commonly works with runners, recreational athletes, strength athletes, and active adults experiencing tendon conditions, sprains, strains, knee pain, hip pain, shin pain, and other activity-related symptoms. Treatment may include strength, mobility, gait observation, movement analysis, and a graded return to training.

Assess the movement. Build the capacity. Return to the activity.

Osteoporosis and Osteopenia

People with osteoporosis or osteopenia can benefit from an individualized program that considers bone health, posture, balance, strength, fracture history, medical precautions, and confidence with exercise.

Treatment may include progressive resistance exercise, weight-bearing activity, balance training, posture work, and education about moving safely. Programs are progressed according to the person's abilities and medical considerations. Skilled physical therapy is distinct from post-discharge wellness or personal-training services.

Build strength. Protect confidence. Keep moving.

Post-Cosmetic Procedure Support

Some patients seek manual lymphatic drainage after procedures such as liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast surgery, or other cosmetic procedures.

When appropriate and consistent with the surgeon's guidance, TORQ may provide hands-on support intended to address swelling, comfort, and tissue mobility during recovery. This service may be provided separately from skilled physical therapy when it does not meet insurance requirements for medically necessary care.

Support the swelling. Improve comfort. Respect the healing process.

Chronic Swelling and Lymphatic Concerns

TORQ offers manual lymphatic drainage for appropriate patients experiencing persistent swelling, post-procedure swelling, or lymphatic concerns.

For people with lymphedema, TORQ provides the manual drainage component of care. Some patients may also require compression, skin care, medical management, or complete decongestive therapy from an appropriately qualified provider. New, unexplained, rapidly worsening, painful, red, or one-sided swelling should be medically evaluated before scheduling a wellness-based lymphatic drainage session.

Gentle support. Thoughtful care. Appropriate coordination.
