Massage & Bodywork

Bodywork with a clinical foundation.

Massage & Bodywork at TORQ is delivered by licensed clinicians in dedicated hands-on sessions. Our team combines myofascial release, trigger point therapy, soft tissue mobilization, deep tissue work, cupping, and IASTM — choosing the right techniques for what your body actually needs. This is therapeutic bodywork with medical training behind it.

Massage With a Purpose

Therapeutic bodywork, not spa relaxation.

Every session is built around what your body actually needs — not a template applied uniformly. Some patients come in for targeted work on a specific area. Others come for full-body sessions to address broader tension patterns. Same clinical foundation either way.

What makes it therapeutic is the intent and the training behind it. Our team brings clinical medical knowledge to every session — anatomy at a depth most bodywork practitioners don't need, awareness of contraindications, and the ability to recognize when something isn't just muscle tension. That doesn't mean sessions feel clinical. It means the work is more precise, more targeted, and often more effective.

Because different clinicians on our team have different strengths, we can match your session to what your body needs. Some therapists integrate more deep tissue work. Others favor lighter tissue work. Either way, you're in skilled hands and you'll get the session that fits.

One Honest Note

This isn't a spa environment. Spa massage is a legitimate offering with its own atmosphere and place — many patients benefit from it. What we offer is different: therapeutic bodywork delivered in a clinical setting by licensed clinicians. If you're specifically looking for a spa experience with candles, aromatherapy, and quiet music, a wellness spa may be a better fit. If you're looking for effective, targeted work with medical understanding behind it, that's what we do.

Six Techniques

The right approach, for your body.

Every session draws from a range of techniques based on what your body actually needs. Your clinician will select the right approach — or combination of approaches — based on your goals, tissue quality, and areas of concern.

Myofascial Release

Slow, sustained pressure applied to fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds muscles — to release restrictions and improve mobility. Ideal for chronic tension patterns and areas where movement feels "stuck."

Trigger Point Therapy

Focused pressure applied to specific hyperirritable points ("knots") that either refer pain to other areas or restrict local movement. A precise, targeted technique for stubborn tension patterns.

Soft Tissue Mobilization

Broader hands-on work through muscles, tendons, and surrounding tissues to release tension, improve tissue quality, and restore movement. Foundational to most bodywork sessions.

Deep Tissue Work

Firm, direct pressure into deeper muscle layers for chronic tension patterns, dense tissue restrictions, and long-standing muscle tightness that lighter work doesn't reach.

Cupping

Suction-based technique using cups placed on the skin to lift tissue, increase blood flow, and address fascial restrictions. Sometimes leaves temporary circular marks — part of the treatment.

IASTM

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization uses specific tools to work through fascial restrictions and scar tissue with more precision than hands alone. Effective for chronic tightness and post-injury adhesions.

Who Benefits Most

Six kinds of bodies this works well for.

Massage & Bodywork at TORQ supports a wide range of patients for a wide range of reasons. Here are the populations we see most often.

Chronic Muscle Tension

Persistent tightness that doesn't shift with home stretching, foam rolling, or casual self-care. Upper traps, low back, hips, jaw — the classic stubborn spots. Professional bodywork reaches what home routines can't.

Athletes & Active Adults

Runners, lifters, and active adults recovering between training sessions. Regular bodywork accelerates recovery, addresses movement restrictions, and keeps you training consistently through longer training cycles.

Post-Workout & Maintenance

Between-training maintenance sessions to prevent small issues from becoming injuries. Regular clients often build monthly or bi-weekly sessions into their routine.

Stress-Related Tension

The body carries stress. Chronic tension in shoulders, jaw, upper back, and hips often has a stress component that regular self-care doesn't fully address. Bodywork helps the nervous system down-regulate.

Post-Surgical Scar Tissue

After orthopedic or cosmetic surgery, targeted work on scar tissue and surrounding fascia can improve mobility, reduce adhesions, and support tissue quality during recovery. We coordinate with your surgical timeline.

Wellness & Self-Care

Patients who invest in regular hands-on wellness care as part of a broader self-care routine. Monthly or bi-weekly sessions keep the body feeling loose, mobile, and cared for across the seasons.

How Sessions Unfold

Consult. Assess. Work. Guide.

Every session at TORQ follows the same rhythm — a conversation about what your body needs, a brief physical assessment, the bodywork itself, and simple guidance for what to do between sessions.

01

Consult

A brief conversation about what you're here for. Chronic tension? Athletic recovery? Post-surgical work? Wellness care? Your goals shape the session.

02

Assess

Your clinician identifies where you're actually holding tension, which tissue restrictions matter most for your goals, and which techniques will be most effective.

03

Work

The main event. You relax on the table while your clinician selects and combines techniques based on what your body actually needs.

04

Guide

Recommendations for between sessions — self-care, hydration, movement, or specific stretches — to extend the benefits of the work we did together.

What Patients Experience

What you'll feel after a session.

Every body is different, but here's what patients most commonly experience — both immediately after a session and across a series of visits.

  • Muscle tension releases in specific target areas
  • Range of motion improves
  • Recovery between training sessions accelerates
  • Chronic tight spots stop coming back as often
  • The body feels more open, less gripped
  • Sleep tends to be better the night of a session
